FilmLA Foundation Launches “LA Loves Film” Public Education & Community Awareness Campaign

The FilmLA Foundation today announced the launch of the “LA Loves Film” public education and awareness campaign. The one-year, industry-supported effort will spotlight the many benefits a thriving creative economy brings to Los Angeles, while bringing industry and neighborhood stakeholders together in conversation to promote film-friendliness in area communities.

“The FilmLA Foundation was established to support the hundreds of thousands of talented artists and craftspeople who make up LA’s signature industry,” explained FilmLA Foundation Board Chairperson and former LAEDC CEO Bill Allen.

“The LA Loves Film campaign will celebrate Angelenos who tell the stories enjoyed by worldwide audiences and remind us all how important their legacy is to the economy, quality of life and future of the Greater Los Angeles region.”

– Bill Allen, FilmLA Foundation Board Chairperson & former LAEDC CEO

LA Loves Film seeks to enhance overall community understanding of the economic, civic and cultural benefits of local filming, through publication of specific and surprising stories, data and information. Online and outdoor advertising are key to this objective, as are the personal stories of individuals whose passion and creativity define L.A.’s creative community. Through this campaign, the FilmLA Foundation also seeks to empower film industry champions at the neighborhood level. This will be achieved through outreach to community leaders and regular campaign presence at community gatherings and events.

“Greater Los Angeles is regarded by members of the film industry as a desirable but challenging place to film. At the same time, this is home to the world’s largest creative workforce,” said Denise Gutches, the FilmLA Foundation’s chief executive. “While celebrating the economy that makes our region unique, this campaign will address location cost and community support barriers, bringing film industry and community leaders together in conversation to keep L.A. film friendly.”

“Film and television are part of the fabric of Los Angeles, supporting good-paying jobs across our city. As we continue to reduce filming fees locally, advocate for increased state and federal incentives, and work aggressively to bring productions back to Los Angeles, we need to strengthen the connection between our signature industry and the communities where filming takes place,” said Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. “I applaud the FilmLA Foundation for launching LA Loves Film and building grassroots community support by increasing awareness of the economic and cultural impact of Hollywood.”

The success of LA Loves Film is made possible by tax-deductible gifts to the FilmLA Foundation, as well as in-kind assistance offers from individuals and organizations.
